Why This Matters to Me
I’ve seen firsthand what hustle culture does to agents. My husband Donald is a top producing Realtor, and as his wife I could always tell when he was close to burnout. The calls wouldn’t stop, he was exhausted and irritable, and his doctor even warned that his heart was in a constant state of stress, on the verge of a stroke if he didn’t change
As our team’s operations manager, I knew there had to be a better way. I started building out systems and a hiring structure so the business could run on auto-pilot. I’ll never forget the first time we went on a family vacation and Donald left his cell phone in the hotel room to spend the whole day going down water slides with our kids. He wasn’t stressed about the business. He was fully present. That’s when I knew we were onto something.
Before joining Donald, I worked a fantastic 9-5 job, but I missed so much time with my family. The turning point came when my 1-year-old spiked a fever in the middle of the night. I couldn’t send her to daycare, or find coverage for my shift on such short notice. Donald canceled his showings to be home with her, and he texted me: “She just keeps asking for you.” I broke down in tears. That moment changed everything.
Switching to real estate and building a team with strong systems gave me the freedom to be there for my kids when it mattered most. And that’s why I coach agents today. Because I know what’s at stake when your business runs you instead of you running your business.
